I thought I'd just check in...
Last night we watched The Help - such a good movie. I really loved the book - was one of my "beach" books this past summer. Right now I'm reading  In The Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson. It's really quite good.  I'd read another of his books The Devil in the White City - also a good one. Neither are light reading but fascinating and worth the time in my opinion :-)
Wondering if anyone is watching the Project Runway All-Stars? I only saw part of it the other night and am planning on watching the rest tonight.
Ok... gotta run !

warm wishes on a warm january day

....here in the burg
Earlier this week I would have said it felt like an
ice-burg. It was so stinkin cold! Today a totally unseasononable day. Sunny and in the 60's I guess. I'm going to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
Anyway -
I wanted to make a card for a friend who is ill.
I saw a lovely card challenge via my friend Amy's blog. Amy is the Guest Designer for January at i{heart}2stamp and Amy made a lovely card (Amy only knows how to make lovely cards) and I thought I'd take a crack at that challenge. So here it is. I had pop-dotted the sentiment and finally gave up on scanning it as I couldn't get a straight scan - apparently I can't get a straight photo either!
I used some textured white cardstock I found at ACMoore, some snowflake vellum I had hanging around, my marvy punches, a hand held punch; SU! mat pack (yes June I finally played with it!) and sentiment stamp (from SU! All Year Cheer I set -retired) and silver cord; versamark and white ep.
I have a few thank you's I made last week I'll be posting tomorrow. Now I'm off to watch Amazing Race. It'll be a nice break from the CNN ballot bowl we've been watching most of the day- I enjoy the politics but it's enough for one day.

drawings and postcard

well strangely enough - this kid i'm sending postcards too decides to come home for a few days. He doesn't start classes til monday and had left a few things behind so he and his roommate (who lives around 1/2 hr from here) drove up on Thursday. It was kinda weird - he was talking to me while i was addressing his postcard - but he didn't realize i was doing that. ha!

I was flipping through my sketchbook trying to find a particular drawing i was going to post (i don't know where i put it - this one happened to be on a loose piece of paper that i subsequently taped into the sketchbook) and I found a couple of little drawings I haven't posted. Nothing spectacular but i thought i'd put them here.

I have also been doing a lot of scrapbooking - if you're interested go check Suzy Scrapbooker. I've been really enjoying working on my son's baby pictures. Reminiscing galore.

I've also been a little obsessed with my summertime guilty pleasure "Big Brother" - reality tv. Oh i was wondering if anyone has watched a program that is on AMC called "Mad Men". I tape it via the dvr. It's a very interesting program. Set in the late 50's (and I presume into the early 60's) about the advertising world on Madison Avenue. Wonderful acting and its like a little flashback - the characters would be around my parents age and their children my age. Ok - i'm off to post my Suzy stuff! have a great saturday everyone

We watched a very good movie (video on demand - very handy that) on Saturday nite which I forgot to mention.
The Good Shepherd with Matt Damon. I don't remember much hype for it when it first came out. After we watched the movie we thought - what a shame.
Wonderful movie. Although it was long, it really had us going from the very beginning.
Oh and a frivolous little mini-series that I'm thoroughly enjoying thus far : The Starter Wife on USA. Originally hadn't planned on watching and decided why not see what its like. I loved it! The premiere was 2 hours. I believe there are 4 more 1 hour episodes to be shown. If you didnt get to see it - i believe they're reshowing the premiere on Thursday maybe 5-7pm (check your local listings :-)) and then the next installment is on Thursday nite at 9pm. It's just fun mostly (here and there a little sad but mostly fun and entertaining). Oh - if your connection allows it - you can always watch episodes online.
i have some more cards i've made but i'm saving them for tomorrow :-) I need to do some other things so i'm outta here.
